DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Vegetable Beds – Spread Grow Better Cow Manure to a depth of 50-70mm on the top of the soil and lightly rake in and water.
Trees & Shrubs – Spread Grow Better Cow Manure to a depth of 75mm underneath the tree and to the outer edge of the tree canopy. Then lightly rake over and water in.

Iron is an essential element in the formation of chlorophyll and enzymes within the plant.
Deficiency symptoms vary somewhat with plant species, however a general symptom is the yellowing in between leaf veins. This is most noticeable in the younger leaves. There is usually a sharp distinction between the yellow and green portions. In severe cases, the whole leaf turns yellow, including the veins.
Iron Chelate is more effective than Iron Sulphate in overcoming Iron deficiencies in plants, due to several advantages chelate has over sulphate form of trace elements. Searle Iron Chelate is highly soluble, quickly absorbed by plant foliage and plant roots. It is much more easily assimilated within the plant system. There is much less chance of ‘burn’ damage occurring with iron chelate because of its organic substance. In alkaline soils chelated iron is the only way of feeding iron to a plant. Iron Chelate is not readily leached from the soil because of its attraction to the surface of soil particles.

Boron is associated with several functions within the plant, e.g., respiration, carbohydrate metabolism, the transport of sugars and the absorption of calcium. It is also essential for the formation of new cells at growing points for young shoots, roots, flower buds and fruit.
Born deficiencies first appear in the youngest leaves and growing points on the plant. Boron deficiency frequently causes the death of the growing point on the stem, resulting in the production of numerous shoots thereby giving a witch’s broom effect. Other symptoms that may occur include death of terminal and lateral buds, young leaves thicken, curl and become brittle, lower petals of flowers become brown and eventually die.
- Boron is important to growing tissue in young shoots, roots, flower buds and fruit.
- Boron deficiency is likely in alkaline soils.
- Symptoms of boron deficiency may vary to include death of terminal buds, thickening of young leaves, brittle flower petals and occasionally yellow-reddish colouring.

Sulphur powder, also known as agricultural sulphur, is an excellent acidifying agent for lowering pH of alkaline soils.
This is very important for plants that require acidic conditions such as azaleas, camellias, gardenias, rhododendrons, ericas, hydrangeas, philodendrons & other acid loving plants. Work the Sulphur powder into the soil and water in well.
Deficiencies of Sulphur result in restricted growth and yellow leaves.

Potassium is a very important element in all plants. It helps to produce and form colourful flowers and quality fruit and helps thicken plant cell walls, which improves disease resistance.
Deficiencies can often be noticed in the older leaves (lower leaves on the plant) becoming a dull greyish-green colour with yellow spots appearing on leaf tips and margins. Quite often leaves will look scorched and may die and plant stems can become weak.

Calcium is a very important element in all plants. It helps to strengthen plant cell walls. Dolomite helps to increase soil pH increasing the availability of soil nutrients. However, do not use on acid loving plants such as camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons.

General symptoms include stunting of plant growth, paling of young leaves, even blackening of leaf tips and margins. Petals tend to appear water-soaked, due to loss of cell structure. These symptoms may occur due to insufficient lime or dolomite in the soil, or excessive applications of potassium or ammonium based fertilisers.
Magnesium deficiency: can often be noticed in older leaves (lower leaves on the plant). General symptoms include a bronze-yellow discolouration along the leaf margins towards the tip. These symptoms may occur due to insufficient magnesium in the soil (adding lime rather than dolomite) or excessive applications of potassium or sodium.

Due to the current very high demand for these products some of our compost products are not being stored or matured enough for the smell to decrease before sold. Earthy, manure aromas are not an indicator of performance and Searles products are fully composted, meeting our rigorist testing standards for high nutrient content and exceptional product performance. When using compost in the garden, we always recommend blending one half compost to existing soil for the best result.
